Are Granite Countertops Nearly Over? This Report Says.
For years it's been making its way into renovations, new builds, and sometimes even flat makeovers. But now, the telltale speckled appearance just might now be ... dare we say it? Dated.
Otherwise known as engineered stone, installing quartz is on granite and the rise is becoming popular.
What exactly is it?
To generate engineered stone, earth-up quartz is blended using a binder like resin in a 90/10 ratio. It is then modeled into slabs that can change in size as well as depth. Marbling and coloring can be added through the manufacturing procedure, rendering it virtually infinitely customizable.
Perhaps the largest perk of the countertop trend that is new? Accessibility. White Quartz countertops are simple to source and purchase by yourself, making them well suited for DIYers or house renovators (no need to send an expert out to the rock quarry for you!).
As the engineered stone is nonporous, you do not have to worry typical countertop woes over like stains etching, cracks, chips, or even mildew and bacteria. To clean, you can simply wash it down with water and soap or a mild detergent. And there is no need to seal or reseal it throughout its lifetime.
